Autism Assessments

We offer comprehensive autism assessments (or combined Autism and ADHD) for children, young people and adults through our specialist assessment service, Colley & Jones. Our assessments follow NICE guidelines and are designed to provide careful, evidence-based understanding of a child or young person’s strengths, needs and development.

Free Initial Consultation

I offer a complimentary 20-minute phone or video consultation so we can briefly discuss your concerns, explain the assessment process, and consider whether this feels like the right next step.

Assessment Fee

£2,250

This includes the full assessment process, feedback appointment, and a detailed written report.

Our Assessment Service

Assessments are delivered through our shared assessment service Colley & Jones, a provider of specialist neurodevelopmental assessments. All assessments are carried out directly by experienced psychologists and are not outsourced to junior staff or external screening services.

The Assessment Team

Dr Robin Colley – Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience supporting children and families, including work within NHS community paediatric services.

Dr Jonathan Jones – Consultant Psychologist with specialist expertise in autism, neurodiversity, and learning disability across both child and adult pathways.

Together we bring experience in:

  • Autism spectrum conditions

  • ADHD and related neurodevelopmental differences

  • Learning disability and complex presentations

  • Formulation-led thinking and post-diagnostic support.

Our aim is to provide a thoughtful, clinician-led assessment that prioritises understanding the individual, not simply assigning a label.

Autism Assessment Process

Below is an outline of the typical stages involved in the assessment.

Initial Consultation

We begin with a conversation to understand your concerns, explain the process, and ensure an assessment is appropriate for your child or young person.

Developmental History

A detailed meeting with parents or carers to explore early development, social communication and behaviour. This may include a structured interview such as the DISCO, depending on the needs of the child.

Direct Assessment

Your child will take part in an in-person assessment using the ADOS-2, a widely used observational tool that helps us understand communication, interaction and play.

School or Nursery Information

Where helpful, we may gather information from school or nursery staff and sometimes carry out a school observation to better understand how your child is functioning in everyday settings.

Clinical Formulation

All information is reviewed carefully and discussed within the clinical team. Together we reach a clear conclusion and, where appropriate, offer a formal diagnosis.

Feedback and Written Report

We meet with you to talk through the findings and answer any questions. A detailed written report follows, outlining conclusions and recommendations tailored to your child’s needs.

Our Approach

Our assessments are designed to be careful, compassionate and clinically thorough. We aim to provide clarity for families and practical guidance that supports the child or young person moving forward.
